Keweenaw Opening Day 2026
You’re Invited to the Start of Summer
Each year, the Keweenaw doesn’t just change seasons—it opens.
Snowmelt surges into waterfalls. Brockway Mountain Drive reopens to sweeping Lake Superior views. Trails come back online. Boats return to the harbor. Historic sites unlock their doors for the first time since fall. And across the peninsula, there’s a quiet but unmistakable shift: summer is on.
We’re inviting you to experience that moment.
Keweenaw Opening Day is designed for travel media and industry partners to step into the season as it begins—capturing the stories, people, and places that define summer in Michigan’s northernmost point. From waterfall season and dark sky experiences to Finnish cultural programming, emerging food scenes, and conservation efforts like Bird City Houghton, this is a curated look at what’s shaping travel in the Keweenaw right now.
Come early. See it first. Tell the story before everyone else gets here.
