Volunteer Opportunities

Get Involved

There's no better way to experience the Keweenaw than by volunteering with one of our many service organizations or community festivals.

What is Voluntourism?

Voluntourism is a form of tourism where visitors participate in service work within the community they visit. In the Keweenaw, this may look like volunteering at an event like Pasty Fest, working with a local conservancy to support invasive species management, or working with a trail club to keep our trails clean and safe. By sharing some of your time, you'll build a stronger connection with the Keweenaw and also meet some of the amazing locals who keep this place so amazing.

Submit Volunteer Opportunities

If you're a local Keweenaw organization with volunteer opportunities for visitors, use the form below to submit your information for consideration. Volunteer opportunities can range from a few hours to a full day allowing for individuals of all skill and ability levels to participate. Please note, while the Visit Keweenaw Team will review all submissions, our primary focus is connecting visitors with experiences focusing on the following areas:

  • Environmental stewardship and education
  • Outdoor recreation stewardship
  • Cultural and historical preservation
  • Community events and festivals
