They say the cold builds character. In the Keweenaw, it builds community. This short documentary follows Blizzard T. Husky - Michigan Tech’s beloved mascot and unofficial ambassador of the Copper Country - from the roar of MacInnes Student Ice Arena to school events and community gatherings across the region. Equal parts college hockey hype, local pride, and alumni nostalgia, it captures what it means to be a Husky whether you are a student, a lifelong local, a visitor discovering the Keweenaw for the first time, or an MTU alum still wearing black and gold. Blizzard belongs to all of it - the fans, the town, the winters, the traditions - because here, everyone is part of the pack.
Blizzard T. Husky is Michigan Technological University’s iconic mascot and a beloved symbol of Husky pride and Copper Country spirit. Chosen by the MTU community in 1997 and wearing number 85 in honor of the university’s founding, Blizzard lives for Huskies of all kinds — students, alumni, locals, and visitors. You’ll spot Blizzard cheering in arenas, posing for photos, and bringing energy to campus and community events throughout the year.
