Three generations of the Bausano family have grown up behind the counters of Copper World, where the scent of homemade fudge mingles with aisles of Copper Country treasures—from custom shirts and locally written books to quirky, Yooper-humor keepsakes that make you grin and spark fond memories.
Since 1974, this Calumet mercantile has welcomed visitors like old friends, guiding them to hidden corners of the Copper Country, sharing stories of miners and pioneers, and helping travelers uncover family roots or simply delight in a sweet treat. More than a shop, Copper World is a living thread of community and memory—a place where the past is tangible, the welcome is warm, and every visitor becomes part of the story.
Copper World centrally located on 5th Street in downtown Calumet, inside the historic John Green Block, the oldest wood-frame building in town (built 1869). Founded in 1974 by Tony and Joyce Bausano, the store is now run by their children, Chris and Tim, continuing a multi-generational tradition. Copper World is easy to access and offers a welcoming shopping experience for visitors exploring the heart of Calumet.
Inside, shoppers will find a wide variety of Copper Country treasures. Must-see items include:
