Tucked in Michigan's far north, something unexpected is waiting. The Harbor House Restaurant has been part of Copper Harbor for generations, a place where old memories linger alongside new ones, and where the spirit of the place has remained even as the restaurant has evolved. Today, Chef Dan Harry brings a world of culinary experience to the table, pairing Lake Superior fish and local ingredients with flavors gathered from far beyond the Keweenaw. But the food is only part of the story. It's the Oktoberfest polka, the staff dancing along the shore in dirndls as the Isle Royale Queen IV comes home, the mountain bikers pulling up to the door and the generations of regulars who know exactly what this place means. A Table With a View

The Harbor Haus Restaurant is a longtime Copper Harbor dining destination, serving dinner right on the Lake Superior shoreline since 1974. Large picture windows put the harbor and lake front and center, with views of passing freighters, boats and kayakers.

On the menu:

• Fresh Lake Superior whitefish and lake trout, prepared several ways
• Seafood, including salmon, lobster, shrimp and mussels
• Steaks, chops, duck and pork
• German and Bavarian-inspired dishes like jäger schnitzel, spätzle and Kassler Rippchen
• Scratch-made soups, dressings, desserts and other menu items
• Local berries and vegetables incorporated when available

At the bar: A broad wine list spanning international and Michigan selections, along with German beers, local craft beer, cocktails and Haus-infused drinks featuring local berries.

Oktoberfest in Copper Harbor

Celebrate Oktoberfest at the end of U.S. 41 during one of the best times to experience fall in the Keweenaw. Timed with Germany’s Oktoberfest season, the annual Harbor Haus celebration brings Bavarian food, polka, an outdoor bar and plenty of festive energy to Copper Harbor. Make it part of a scenic fall color drive through Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, with crisp autumn air, Lake Superior views and a cold beer waiting at the end of the road.
