Raising the Midsummer pole on the Quincy Green! (Photo: Finnish American Heritage Center)
We’re turning up the heat this Juhannus with open social sauna sessions and cold plunges at Takka Portage!
Whether you're new to sauna or a seasoned steam-seeker, this is the perfect way to celebrate Finnish tradition, connect with the community, and soak in the sweet, sunny vibes of summer. Swing by before or after festival events for a round (or three) of guided heat, cold plunges, and lakeside relaxation.
What to Expect:
We’re located just steps from the Portage Canal in Hancock, right next to Small Craft. It’s the perfect wellness reset between all the fun at Quincy Green and Porvoo Park.
Advance booking is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome if space allows. Come solo or bring a friend—this is your chance to experience a modern twist on a timeless Finnish tradition.
Celebrate the summer solstice with a soulful painting and meditation experience inspired by the light of Lake Superior. Following a brief guided meditation, participants will create an 8" round sun-themed painting while enjoying refreshing mocktails in a relaxed, creative atmosphere. No experience is needed—all materials are provided.
